Fishing Line Recycling Bins Built

FISHING LINE RECYCLING BINS BUILT – THANK YOU TO VOLUNTEERS AND DONORS!

Students volunteers from Scholar Athletes Serving Others constructed 24 bins from PVC pipe, fittings and glue, and placed informative stickers on them yesterday.  The bins will be installed at the sites on metal or wooden posts or on a convenient rails or docks. Informational flyers will also be posted at bin locations and at bait & tackle shops to inform the public. (To see or print out the flyer, click on  Fishing Line Recycling Poster).

We want to thank the students who volunteered their time as well as Allison and Jeff Burress, who organized and supervised this project.  Jeff serves on the Board of ACCA.  In addition to the other donors, who we have previously listed, we also want to thank Gail Usher, who provided a very generous donation that allowed us to meet our goal of $975 to cover the costs of the bin construction.  We also want to thank Meredith Vanden HandelScott Taylor and Marianne Frasco for their donations.

Special thanks to Madeline Raleigh of Bridgeport in the Know, who did all the research on how to build the bins, find the labels and signs, and contacted all the locations.  Madeline obtained the CT Audubon sponsorship and followed up on all aspects of the project.  Thank you, Madeline!  This took a tremendous amount of time.
